Cheers to 25 Years!
As we enter our 25th season, two words come to my mind: perseverance and gratitude.
There has been lots of hard work, perseverance and determination from so many coordinators, colleagues abroad, and from our employees. I cannot help but feeling amazed and humbled with what American Discovery has been able to accomplish over all these years! So much good has come out of our programs.
We, at American Discovery, have much to be proud of and grateful for. We’re grateful for over 13,000 wonderful host families who so kindly opened their homes and hearts to more than 14,000 foreign students over the years! We’re grateful for the hard work of over 300 coordinators in the recruitment, supervision, and success of our programs. We are grateful for the loyalty, dedication and support that our French and Spanish partners have given us over the years—almost all of them have been there for us since day one!
More than ever, we are determined to bring cultures and people closer together, to learn from each other’s languages, to create friendships and long-lasting relationships, and to accept and embrace differences.
It took a village to make American Discovery a successful program during the past 25 years. To all of you who participated and made this incredible journey a reality: a heartfelt and sincere thank you. May this season be our best ever!
What Is American Discovery?
American Discovery is an international home-stay organization that has many fun and exciting programs for families in Oregon, Washington, California, and Colorado. Our programs provide a way for students from different countries to connect with American families. It is a perfect way to share your culture, hobbies, and your hometown — whether you are in the US, France, or Spain!
Our goal at American Discovery is to create friendships between families of different countries. We hope these friendships will last a lifetime. We wish for every student who visits the US to have a chance to experience the uniqueness of its culture and diversity of its people. In this way each student can make their own American discovery. Since each student is also an ambassador of his or her country, we hope our American families will gain a greater love for Europe as well.
Ready for An Adventure?

Host A Student...
Host families are the most important component of our homestay programs. Their warmth and generosity are what makes the homestay experience so meaningful and memorable for the French and Spanish students.
Becoming a host family is easy. All it requires is a desire to share your home and 2-3 weeks of your life with a foreign student. The commitment you make to host a foreign student can bring your family joy for years to come. When all is said, who knows, you may even end up traveling to visit your foreign student in their country! Read what people are saying.
